Terms of Use
Readerie, by App’d. Effective 25 August 2026.
These are the terms you agree to by using Readerie. They are short on purpose. Alongside them sits our Privacy Policy, which explains what the app stores and how to have it deleted.
1. Agreeing to these terms
By downloading, signing in to, or using Readerie you agree to these terms. If you do not agree to them, please do not use the app.
2. Who may use Readerie
Readerie is for adults. You must be 18 or over to hold an account. An adult may keep a “little reader” shelf to track a child’s reading, but the account remains the adult’s, and children do not sign in or use the app themselves.
3. Your account
Keep your sign-in details to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at hello@appd.land if you think somebody else has got into it.
4. What you share, and who sees it
Readerie lets you share reading notes, quotes, photos and voice notes with people you invite into a shared read. Sharing is invite-only: there is no public feed, and a stranger cannot send you anything or see what you write.
What you share stays yours. You keep every right you have in it. You give us only the permission we need to run the app — to store your content, and to show it to the people you have shared it with. We do not use it for anything else, we do not sell it, and we do not put it in front of anyone you did not invite.
You are responsible for what you share, including that you have the right to share it. Do not upload other people’s work, or photographs of people who would not want them shared, and quote books within the bounds of fair dealing.
5. Objectionable content and conduct
There is zero tolerance for objectionable, abusive, harassing or unlawful content or behaviour in Readerie. This applies to everything shared in the app — notes, quotes, photos and voice notes alike.
You can report any shared item that is not your own by tapping the flag on it, which opens a report to us. You can also leave a shared read at any time, which stops you seeing anything further from the people in it.
We review every report we receive, and we act on it promptly. Where content breaches these terms we remove it, and we may suspend or terminate the account of anyone who posts it. Where the law requires it, we report content to the appropriate authority.
6. Things not to do
- Harass, threaten, abuse or impersonate anybody.
- Share content that is unlawful, hateful, sexually explicit, or that depicts or exploits a child.
- Share content you have no right to share.
- Try to break, overload or get around the app’s security, or reach data that is not yours.
- Use Readerie to advertise, spam, or scrape.
Any of these is grounds for removing content and closing the account behind it, without notice where the breach is serious.
7. Reports we receive
A report reaches a monitored inbox at hello@appd.land and carries enough detail for us to find the item complained of. Readerie has no automated moderation and no public feed to police — sharing happens only between people who invited each other — so reports are read and acted on by a person.
8. Readerie itself
The app, its name, its design and its code are ours, and these terms give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app — nothing more. Book information and cover images come from sources including Open Library and belong to their respective owners.
9. Availability
We would like Readerie to be there whenever you open it, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. We may change features, and we may take the service down for maintenance. If we ever discontinue the app we will give reasonable notice and a way to get your data out.
10. Ending it
You can stop using Readerie whenever you like, and can have your account and its contents deleted by writing to hello@appd.land — the Privacy Policy sets out the timeframe. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms.
11. Guarantees, and their limits
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law, and if any part of these terms would do so, that part does not apply to you.
Subject to that: Readerie is provided as it is. We do not warrant that it will be error-free, and it is not a substitute for keeping your own records of anything that matters to you. To the extent the law allows, our liability for any claim connected with the app is limited to resupplying it to you, or the amount you paid us for it.
12. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms we will change the date at the top, and we will tell you in the app or by email when a change matters. Continuing to use Readerie after that means you accept the new version.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Australia, and you and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Australian courts.
